One is hard pressed not to compare Chevrolet's newer retro-styled wagon with Chrysler's PT Cruiser. Designed by the same creator, the HHR evokes styling of the late 40's Suburban with its classic looks. Since its 2006 debut, the Chevrolet HHR small utility wagon has received some new features and updates that the BuyingAdvice Team thinks make this a nice-looking and spacious wagon to drive around.
With no recalls since its introduction, the HHR offers better than average reliability. The ride is comfortable and smooth, although handling around curves is not as exceptional as some of its other qualities. This wagon does boast a lot of room for both passengers and cargo. And despite lacking some standard safety features, like side airbags, the HHR earned perfect scores in government crash tests. Some of the interior materials are lower-grade than the overall quality, but visibility is very good.
For $1,000 less, a buyer can purchase the similar Chrysler PT Cruiser which comes with standard side airbags, but has optional AC. If you don't mind trading in some fuel economy and a few thousand more dollars, another wagon worth looking into is the Honda Element.
