The Chevrolet Aveo5 - The Cheapest Vehicle on the Market
The cheapest car in America costs about $10,000 and is sold by Chevrolet in 120 different countries. And although there are probably tons of buyers who would love to purchase a new compact hatchback for such a small amount; The BuyingAdvice Team grudgingly admits there may be some merit in the saying "you get what you pay for" in regards to the Chevrolet Aveo5.
This is not to say that purchasing the Aveo5 would be a mistake. It wouldn't. Especially, if finding the lowest price possible is your chief goal. The Aveo5 is a competent, reliable hatchback that even beats the more updated (and expensive) Aveo sedan with its respectable crash test scores. However, the descriptor "cheap" applies to more than just the price. The outmoded styling, shoddy interior materials and non-existence of certain safety options are the areas where the discount-feel becomes hard to ignore. The ride is sufficient, but the engine can be heard clearly. And when strong gusts of wind come along, they can be felt.
If you don't mind spending more for a bit more styling, features and room, we recommend researching the Nissan Versa for about $2,600 more and the Scion xD for $4,500 more. You just may find you do indeed get what you pay for. When our staff figures out how to evade that pesky saying, we'll let you know.
