After Market Car Accessories GM car manufacturers are lowering the price of factory installed XM Satellite Radio in all of their 2007 new cars. The XM aftermarket car accessories were previously priced at $325 but GM has decided to reduce the price to $199.

The XM units have been very popular in GM's cars so far. Over 90% of GM's 2006 and 2007 vehicles have the XM system installed as either a standard or optional feature.

Satellite Radio technology has really taken off in the past few years. It is likely that more and more vehicles will become factory equipped with the technology as it becomes more affordable.

Gas Prices Down After Record High

Gas Prices Gas prices reached an all time high last week after the closing of an Alaskan pipeline and the terrorist threats in the UK disrupted the supply.

Last weeks highest average price was around $3.03 a gallon but, over the weekend prices seemed to stabilize and then began to fall.  According to AAA's website FuelGageReport.com the average price on Wednesday was $2.98.  This fall in price has been quite a relief for those trying to save money on gas.

Hopefully these lower prices will continue as millions of Americans begin to face the daily commute to and from school in the fall.

Muscle Car Sales The New York City Police Department has recently decided to boost American muscle car sales and the power of their fleet by adding 15 powerful and new 2006 Dodge Chargers.

The Charger is a classic American ca. The NYPD's new cars will easily outperform the other cars in the fleet. The new Charger tops out at around 150mph. It can brake over a shorter distance, handles better, accelerates from 0 to 60 in only 6.5 seconds and it gets better gas mileage than most of the current fleet.

Daimler-Chrysler Car Sales Plan To Buy McLaren?

Car Sales Rumors have recently been circulating that Daimler-Chrysler has been considering buying out car maker McLaren F1 and Automotive.

Daimler-Chrysler currently owns a 40% minority of McLaren's stock. In order to become the owners of the company they will have to purchase shares from the other two major investors the managing director, Ron Dennis and a Saudi investor, Mansour Ojjeh.

This move could make sense for Daimler-Chrysler because of the fact that McLaren is the company's Formula One team.

Import Car Dealers Have Highest Customer Satisfaction; Domestics Catching Up

Import Car Dealers The University of Michigan recently released their annual American Customer Satisfaction Index. The index rates all American car sales companies on a scale of 0-100 for their reported customer satisfaction.

Toyota received the highest score for the second year in a row with a score of 87. The industry average is at an all time high of 81. Many domestic companies were able to close the gap with the foreign autos. Buick tied for second place with Honda and Lexus with 86 points. Chevrolet finished mid-pack with 81 and Ford tied last place with Jeep and Kia with 77.

GM, Daimler-Chrysler and BMW Invest $1-Billion In New Hybrid Technology

Hybrid Technology General Motors, Daimler-Chrysler and BMW are teaming up to develop the next generation of electric-gas hybrid cars. The three car makers have put together a team of about 500 auto engineers who have been working together for the past 18 months developing the future of hybrid technology. The three companies hope that the new technology will propel them past Toyota as the leaders in hybrid cars.

The new hybrid system is being called "dual-mode hybrid technology". It allows the hybrid engine to supply far greater power and performance by incorporating a newly designed transmission as well as a fuel-optimization computer that allows the hybrid system to operate much more efficiently.

The participating car companies plan to begin incorporating this new technology into their 2008 model cars.
